Generation Google Scholarship

The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help students who wish to pursue a degree in computer science excel in technology and become leaders in the field. Selected students will receive $ 10,000 USD (for US students) or $ 5,000 CAD (for Canadian students) for the 2022-2023 school year. The Generation Google Scholarship will be awarded based on the individual’s commitment to diversity, equality, inclusion, demonstrated leadership and academic performance.

The program is open to students experiencing all undergraduate degrees and strongly encourages students who identify with historically excluded groups in the technology industry, including Women, Black / African American, Hispanic / Latinx, American Indian, Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander, apply. Applicants are not required to currently enroll in the Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program for 2021-2022 in the year of study to apply. Recipients of one of the following Google Scholarship: Google Scholarship Generation, Google Scholarship Generation: Women in Sport, Google Scholarship Generation: Dedication and Completion, Google Lime Scholarship, Google Student Veterans American Scholarship, Women Professional Technology and Scholarship for Computer and Scholarship for Computer Gaming is not eligible to re-apply.

Who can apply?

To be able to apply, applicants must:

Apply for enrollment or admission as a full-time student in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program at an accredited university or college in the United States or Canada for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Be a computer scientist, computer engineer, or highly related technology
Show a strong academic record
Indicate financial need
Make an example of leadership and show interest in improving the representation of disadvantaged groups in computer science and technology

Application process

You will be asked to complete an online application which includes:

General background information (e.g. contact details and details at your current and targeted universities)
Family and home details
Restart / CV
Academic enrollment from now (if you are currently enrolled) and past institutions (if you have a previous degree)
Answers to three short questions that answer with essays
Recipients will be selected based on the strength of their essays and application materials compared to the rest of the application pool or academic peers (e.g. high school students compared to other high school students).
IMPORTANT: Before starting the application, please prepare the following for upload:

PDF copy of your resume (if available, please include leadership positions, external functions, variations, equity, and efforts to include in your resume)
A PDF copy of your current or most recent text (illegal)
A PDF copy of your three short answers

Terms and Conditions for Generation Google Scholarship

The Generation Google Scholarship prize should be used for tuition, tuition, textbooks, supplies and equipment needed in student classes at their first university. Scholarship recipients must register as full-time students for the 2022-2023 academic year. Registration will be confirmed before the winners are selected, and all bursary payments will be made directly to the student to be used for tuition fees and tuition-related expenses.

Students under the age of 18 at the time of admission must have a parent or guardian who has signed these terms and conditions of the scholarship. We will hold a prize from any expert who does not meet the eligibility requirements and return the prize to any professional who does not meet the eligibility requirements

. Selected recipients will receive instructions from Google on how to receive the prize. Failure to complete these steps on time will result in the recipients not receiving the prize. Recipients may postpone their prize up to one (1) year from the time of payment originally scheduled for a trial as determined by Google. Google employees are not eligible to apply for Google bursaries. Individuals (1) residents of the restricted countries, (2) residents of the restricted countries, or (3) who are otherwise restricted by effective export control and punitive systems may apply for the bursary.
